Vinyl reissue: Hot Fuss, The Killers' first album, is a veritable bouquet of hits, and it's no coincidence that it sold five million copies. "Somebody Told Me" and "Mr. Brightside" elevated the group to the rank of rock stars upon its release. The synth intros, tangy in the style of 80s new wave, the Robert Smith-style intonations of singer Brandon Flowers associate it with the works of the greatest British groups without falling into kitsch. From the first track to the last, the songs are unique pieces that are not alike and yet complement each other wonderfully. Pieces dedicated to dancefloors as well as to the stages of the biggest rock festivals. Distorted voices, electronic melodies and gospel songs (produced by a choir that has notably worked with Elvis and Hendrix) punctuate the magnificent "Everything Will Be Alright" and "All These Things That I've Done". An essential album, to be preferred over the rest of the Killers' discography.
