The Beach Boys - Surfer Girl
Description
SURFER GIRL - THE BEACH BOYS (Picture Disc)
The release of this third Beach Boys album on September 16, 1963 was an event on several counts. Indeed, Surfer Girl was the last album with David Marks who officially left the group on August 30. It was especially the first produced by Brian. The qualitative leap was immense. We don't know what to remember among the brilliant finds. The harp of "Catch A Wave" , Hal Blaine's drum part on "Our Car Club" , the organ of "The Rocking Surfer" , the strings of "The Surfer Moon" . Likewise, now the sole master on board, Brian reserved most of the vocal parts for himself, which allowed him to perfect his technique of systematically doubling the vocals. The rest is no less admirable, although more predictable. "Little Deuce Coupe" is once again an obvious hit, as is "South Bay Surfer" .
