NEW ORDER - Movement
Description
NEW ORDER - Movement
The band's first album, this record is historic because it is the first post-Joy Division recording by New Order, founded shortly after Ian Curtis' suicide. The only change is the arrival of Gillian Gilbert, the girlfriend of drummer Stephen Morris, on keyboards, which gives a more postpunk sound to the band, Joy Division having never used many synthesizers. Indeed, on this album, the guitars are less present - although having a richer sound - in favor of a very powerful rhythm, in particular Peter Hook's bass. A transitional album between the dark and sometimes morbid sound of Joy Division and the dance-rock side that New Order would later develop, Movement, at times atmospheric, offers more accessible melodies to those who did not know the band before.
