BOFs are part of our collective memory and are inseparable from a film that will have marked a period of our life: The Graduate, Jaws, Lawrence of Arabia, The Great Escape, The Tontons flingueurs. Most of them have moved us and remain present in our minds. Even today, they stick to the image and success of a film. Drive, for example, is the best recent example with more than a million titles sold worldwide.
Most of the soundtracks in these boxes were all hits. They helped make films last through the decades. They continue to be played on the radio and they still influence rock bands today. They are vintage, fashionable and iconic.
The composers of these works have become, for the most part, stars in the same way as the directors or actors. From Maurice Jarre to John Williams, via Lalo Schifrin or Ennio Morricone, they have influenced an entire generation. from variety to jazz, rock or electro.
Most of these albums were no longer published: Lawrence of Arabia, Contempt, Lolita, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, New York, New York, Bird, Amadeus, Paris, Texas, Pat Garret, Top Gun.
Fnac, Première and Europe 1 wanted to join forces and reissue, celebrating the Cannes Film Festival through these six boxes (two per decade of the 1960s and 1970s, a single box for the 1980s and 1990s) and restoring the nobility of this category.
