There, Anna Calvi was able to prove her impressive talent as a master of musicality and morbid drama and her phenomenal stage presence. As if she had stepped out of a Tarrantino film, she stands on stage with her lips painted red and her guitar from which very melodic sounds spring. Boleroesk's drums and guitar create ever more powerful arcs of tension, but never get lost for good in the melodic chaos. Because above them, Calvis' hypnotic voice is enthroned and reigns.

On January 14th, Anna Calvi's debut album of the same name will be released, which she produced with Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey et al.) in London and France. It's a surprisingly confident debut, showcasing her talents as a songwriter, guitarist and singer in ten equally impressive songs.
