IGGY POP

Iggy Pop, real name James Newel Österberg Jr., born April 21, 1947 in Muskegon, Michigan (United States) is an American singer, songwriter and actor. He is considered one of the most influential rock artists. Indeed, The Stooges (his group from 1967 to 1974, and from 2003 to the present day) is historically one of the first precursor groups of the punk movement. Iggy Pop is also known for his impressive and excessive stage performance. Nicknamed "The Iguana", he is one of the rare artists of the 60s spared by the punks of the 1970s, being recognized as The Godfather of Punk. To a lesser extent, the grunge scene will also appropriate him in the 90s. Thus, his best-known songs with the Stooges are I Wanna Be Your Dog and Search and Destroy.

In 2003, the Stooges reformed one last time, until the death of bassist Ron Asheton. Iggy then embarked on new solo tours, revealing incredible energy and a physique that stood the test of time. The singer had indeed calmed down and emphasized the benefits of a healthy lifestyle on stage: a yoga enthusiast, he is now vegetarian. Solo, he managed to score a few hits, most of them in collaboration with David Bowie, including Nightclubbing, Lust for Life, The Passenger, I'm Bored, Real Wild Child, and Candy, a duet with Kate Pierson.
