Michka ASSAYAS
Michka Assayas is passionate about musical history. He was born on November 2, 1958. A former student of the École Normale Supérieure de Saint-Cloud, he collaborated from a very young age, in 1980, with Rock & Folk and Libération, as a specialist in post-punk rock, a movement that was then in the minority (New Order, the Smiths, etc.). A literary critic at Libération and an editorialist at Les Inrockuptibles, he published the Dictionnaire du rock in 2000 in the Bouquins collection at Robert Laffont, which remains an unsurpassed reference. Revised and reissued in 2014, Le Nouveau dictionnaire du rock constitutes in 3000 the most complete encyclopedia in the world on the subject. His book of conversations with the singer Bono of the group U2, published in 2005, was a best-seller translated around the world.
In addition, he has published several stories and novels, including Exhibition, which won the Prix des Deux-Magots in 2003, and Faute d'identité in 2011. From 2008 to 2012, he produced a weekly rock show on France Musique: Subjectif 21. Since 2015, he has programmed and produced a daily show for France Inter, "Very Good Trip", which has enjoyed growing success since its creation, attracting an average of 260,000 listeners per evening.
