Artist
David Bowie
Born in 1947 in London, David Bowie really became known in the late 60s with the song Space Oddity. But it was in 1972, by creating the character of his alter-ego Ziggy Stardust, that he became an international star. His glam-rock music, his look and his flamboyant characters established him as an extraordinary artist. Innovative, original, unpredictable, he never ceased to surprise for more than four decades, selling more than 140 million albums and influencing many of his contemporaries. Among his most famous songs, we will remember Let's Dance, Life on Mars? or Heroes, which illustrated many cinematographic works.
David Bowie has sometimes been presented as a chameleon artist. The term comes up regularly. Adapting his work to the fashions and spirits of the times, music hall, hippie folk, glam-rock, soul, funk, pop, electronic music, and jazz… have been some of the most covered genres. But he gives them each time a color, a personality. His voice goes from caress to scream, in many nuances, suggesting a form of drama in the expression.
